The sustainability and growth of the Company's business are driven by the contribution of individuals. Vice versa, the Company's activities also have an impact on people inside and outside the Company. Recognizing the importance of this relationship, CITA established "Care for People" as one of its main sustainability pillars. This care extends from the Company's internal stakeholders to communities around our operational areas.
Health and Safety
Occupational health and safety (OHS) is critical throughout our business processes and in the mining industry in general. We continue to strive to implement the highest OHS standards by maximizing the implementation of existing OHS initiatives, and by prioritizing continuous improvement . As a result, from 2020 to 2023, we achieved zero fatality within the Company's employees.
CITA implements OHS procedures to minimize and protect our employees from safety risks and work-related illnesses. We continuously evaluate the effectiveness of our Mining Safety Management System (SMKP) implementation through regular internal audits by certified auditors. In addition, we also have safety training programs, provide adequate protective equipment, implement good mechanical safety techniques, alongside other measures to improve our health and safety standards.
In addition, we established an OHS Risk Management approach which consists of hazard identification and risk impact assessment, which includes the analysis of significant historical incidents, and the assessment of potential operational hazards. The risk impact assessment establishes risk categories and strategies for reducing accidents. OHS Risk Management is implemented based on the principle of Risk Control Hierarchy or also known as "As Low As Reasonably Practicable (ALARP)" aimed at eliminating hazards and minimizing risks.
People and Culture
The Company's culture is rooted in the Company's values, beliefs, and behaviors that continue to evolve in response to new developments and requirements.
Employees are an integral part of the Company. Qualified and skilled human resources are crucial to support business sustainability and growth. CITA strives to hire people from various backgrounds, provide equal opportunities, and ensure human rights protection for all employees.
We strive to develop a positive work environment to support employee performance. We support career development and workforce capacity improvement through various employee trainings. Further information related to employee welfare and employee benefits can be accessed in the 2023 Sustainability Report.
Community Empowerment
CITA directly involves the community in planning community empowerment programs (PPM). This allows us to consider the community’s inputs, aspirations, and expectations. Furthermore, we design PPM based on the most relevant community needs, while considering regional government development programs, and the principles of sustainable development. We implement PPM in six areas of activities: Health, Education, Economic Improvement, Infrastructure, Socio-Cultural, and Environmental Preservation. We also ensure that the planning and implementation of these programs refer to the latest Indonesian government regulations and relevant standards, such as ISO 26000.
We utilize impact measurement to inform the design and scale of future PPM initiatives. Therefore, we have established the measures of Social Return of Investment Approach(SROI) and Community Satisfaction Index.
