CITA aligns our actions with the Indonesian government's goal of achieving net zero emissions by 2060, or sooner.
Greenhouse Gas Emissions
CITA developed a Greenhouse Gas (GHG) inventory and measurement system which are used to develop a strategic action plan for the Company. In 2023, we implemented a standard operating procedure (SOP) for GHG accounting and reporting. Our GHG inventory and reporting will be improved gradually in accordance with management commitments. Land use is included in the Company's Scope-1 (Direct Emissions) calculation. CITA is committed to mitigating climate change impacts by ensuring that land restoration is carried out immediately after mining is completed. We focus on minimizing impacts on biodiversity during land use planning, land clearing, as well as land restoration (reclamation or/and revegetation).
Energy Consumption Reduction
CITA monitors energy consumption in our operations as part of our commitment to promote efficient energy use. In 2023, CITA's total energy consumption decreased by 43.86% which was affected by the decrease in our mining activities due to the implementation of the bauxite ore export ban regulation.
We have taken the initiative to reduce the consumption of non-renewable energy by installing solar panels at operating sites as well as the use of biodiesel (B35). In 2023, the total contribution of renewable energy sources was 31.57%. We anticipate reducing diesel consumption by more than 600 kiloliters over the 25-year project life.
